RESUMEN
Los trece capítulos recogidos en este libro reflexionan sobre los grados de asimilación, los intercambios y las particularidades presentes en el arte español, temas que centraron la investigación de Juan Carlos Ruiz Souza. Las obras analizadas documentan las intensas relaciones culturales y artísticas que se establecieron a través de las fronteras, tanto dentro de la península ibérica como en el conjunto de la cuenca mediterránea. Durante los siglos de existencia de al-Andalus fueron constantes los intercambios, los viajes de ida y vuelta, este-oeste, sur-norte. Reconstruir aquel paisaje cultural, a menudo olvidado o excluido, y derribar las fronteras historiográficas y los anticuados paradigmas de exclusión resultan ejercicios indispensables para comprender nuestro singular y rico patrimonio, así como para generar relatos inclusivos y de respeto hacia lo diverso en la sociedad actual. Estos son los principales objetivos del Proyecto I+D+i Al-Andalus, arte, ciencia y contextos en un Mediterráneo abierto. De Occidente a Egipto y Siria (RTI2018-093880 -B-I00) en cuyo marco se han llevado a cabo estas investigaciones.The thirteen chapters collected in this book reflect on the degrees of assimilation, the exchanges and the particularities present in Spanish art, topics that were the focus of Juan Carlos Ruiz Souza's research. The art works analysed by the authors document the intense cultural and artistic relations established across borders, both within the Iberian Peninsula and throughout the Mediterranean basin. During the centuries of the existence of al-Andalus, exchanges and trips back and forth, east-west and south-north, were constant. The reconstruction of that cultural landscape, often forgotten or excluded, breaking down historiographical borders and outdated paradigms of exclusion, are essential exercises to understand our unique and rich heritage, as well as to generate inclusive stories and respect for diversity in today's society. These are the main objectives of the R&D Project Al-Andalus, art, science and contexts in an open Mediterranean. From the West to Egypt and Syria" (RTI2018-093880-B-I00), that is the framework of the investigations presented herein.
